Strait of Canso Pipeline Crossing

To cover approximately 4200 LF of twin 8”dia. gas pipe lines with a layer of intermediate stone and a layer of armour stone in a water depth of 160 ft. Stone Quantity 110,000 tons. The work involved setting a reliable anchor system in order to spot the dump scows directly over the pipe, dredging at the shore approaches, pull winch lines shore to shore and retrieve buoyancy tanks following the pipe pull. Scow were loaded at Mulgrave Wharf and towed six miles to site.
